Why Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX)?

How Can (DMX) Digital Motion X-ray Detect Ligament Damage?

Digital Motion X-Ray (DMX) uses advanced technology to detect ligament injuries that could never be seen before because of the lack of motion. Static x-rays, MRI and CT commonly miss injuries because you don’t or can’t move for the exam. The upper 30% of the spine and posterior aspect of the spine contain no discs, just ligaments. Headaches and posterior neck pain are commonly caused by stretched ligament injuries which cannot be detected by MRI.

DMX can provide valuable information about the stability and/or injury of all 22 major ligaments in the cervical spine which cannot be detected by motionless MRI, CT, or Static X-ray.
MRI of the cervical spine is designed to evaluate DISC injuries while not moving, lying down, and not swallowing. Headaches , posterior neck pain or referred pain are commonly caused by ligament injuries which cannot be detected by motionless MRI, CT, or Static X-ray.

Digital motion X-ray (DMX) takes x-ray images while the patient is moving compared to conventional still or static x-rays, CAT scans, and MRI’s where the patient is told to “do not move and hold still.” The digital motion x-ray study is performed while the patient is in a weight bearing standing position and moving the ybody through different planes of motion. Each plane of motion tests for damage to the specific ligaments responsible for that motion and joint stability.
DMX takes high quality images at 2,700 views per min with the same radiation dose as the typical standard 6 static cervical x-ray series.

How Can (DMX) Digital Motion X-ray Detect Ligament Damage?

When a person has joint damage or instability, it causes an increase in motion between two adjacent bones (aka joint) causing excessive stress on the supporting structures

and nerve endings within those structures resulting in chronic pain. The ligament’s primary purpose is to connect adjacent bones together and restrict excessive motion between the bones. When ligaments are injured, torn, stretched or weakened the adjacent bones move excessively causing many different types of symptoms and loss of function.

DMX Digital Motion X-ray is the only moving diagnostic test performed in a weight bearing position to evaluate the function of the 22 major cervical ligaments.

Anyone who has been in a motor vehicle accident (even a minor one), or has had a traumatic fall or injury can benefit from the digital motion X-rayy analysis.
